The Jedi master Oppo Rancisis was a Thisspiasian Jedi and a lifetime member of the Jedi high council. He appeared originally in the background during Episode 1: The phantom menace. Though born into royalty like count Dooku he rejected his monarchy in favor of remaining with the jedi order.

This is rather important to note as Oppo was granted a position as a lifetime member of the high council, a rare honor shared with the likes of Yoda, mace and a select few others, including Kenobi after Oppo’s death

What all this is working towards is that Oppo is one of the most respected member of the jedi council, being one of the 5 life time members of the jedi order (which is shared by only the most powerful and wisest ie yoda, mace later obi-wan) and a jedi’s respect is often correlated to their power in the force.

With all these in play, I feel it's safe to say Oppo was the 5th most powerful Jedi of his time, at the very least.

It is worth noting that the Thession aliens are a warrior like people, So Master Oppo being able to beat their ruler in a contest of combative prowess speaks highly to his own skills as a warrior

While completely exhausted Master Oppo was able to defeat a handful of Anzati assassins in only a few comic panels

The comic even makes note of his exhaustion, in fact, it was vital that he was at his most vulnerable before attacking.






The Anzati assassins are no pushover despite how Oppo makes it seem. They are among the most deadliest species in the galaxy, their assassins the most feared, and even receiving training from them can make one an untouchable killer







And Oppo while exhausted and deemed “at his most vulnerable” was capable of killing 5 of them in swift succession, it should be noted within the context of the story (will talk on this more later) that these were Azanti masters, the best of their order.

These assassins, if failed, were meant to serve as a distraction so the fallen jedi Sora bulq could sneak up on him and assassinate him.

such a method of engagement can be seen as a sign of either fear or inferiority to master Oppo even in a exhausted state as he felt he couldn't easily dispatch of the master even in this state.

Sora bulq before his fall is credited as one of the greatest instructors of all time. having perfected many forms of combat





and since his fall has engaged in a relatively even fight with mace before honing his dark powers, since claiming that not even windu can no longer defeat him.










Despite this, Sora and Dooku himself, felt it necessary to send multiple jedi killing assassins, at his most vulnerable to further weaken him so bulq can stab him from behind, which goes to show how skilled Master Oppo actually is if two very skilled and powerful force users/duelists felt this was what was needed to defeat him.

The power of the Jedi sourcebook does prove its difficulty in its use, with the fail/success being awfully slimmer than other exotic powers. However, if successful the result is devastating, being incapacitated for 2-12 rounds.






which, to say in game terms: a single round is completed when everyone has done their turns. So if there are 6 people at a moment, that person is incapacitated for every one of those peoples turns TIMES the result rolled…oof

In the great holocron Oppo is listed alongside some of the greatest jedi of the older eras

Oppo while in battle meditation burns brightly in the force, master Tholme can sense the depth of his thoughts and breadth of his vision

While using his battle meditation on Saleucami, Oppo goes deeper to try and see the clone wars as a whole, only being stopped by the dark side obscuring a few details to keep its purpose hidden. This a very impressive display considering previous displays of battle meditation from other masters have been limited to a single army battle or planet let alone a galaxy-spanning war, WHILE also affecting a battle.

BATTLE OF SALEUCAMI

The battle of Saleucami was a battle of great importance for the clone wars. The Separatists were creating their own clone army, bred from Morgukai warriors.

Morgukai warriors are some of the deadliest warriors in the galaxy. Their warriors are capable of matching and standing up to seasoned Jedi knights.

You get the picture. Super deadly warriors on their own and now they have an infinite amount of clones of these warriors, which according to Aayla fought just like the original template morgukai. On top of that they are being trained by the infamous anzati assassins (talked about in dueling skills) in stealth and assassination

Understandably so when the Republic discovered of these cloned morgukai army they deemed it a major threat, with master Tholme noting that even a handful of these anzati trained warriors could be devastating.

Had the republic not responded when they did or lost the coming battle the very nature of the clone wars would have been altered. Showing just how major a threat this clone army posed to the war as a whole.

Oppo was chosen to lead the siege on Saleucami, choosing Quinlan Vos to be his second in command (an interesting choice considering he was still potentially a spy for dooku) and had several other jedi and 3 battalions of clones to see the campaign through

The assembly of jedi under master Oppo (and vos) is quite a roster, boasting one of the biggest assembly of Jedi throughout the war, as well as some recognizable Jedi masters such as Aayla, A’sharad (the later darth Krayt) and K’kruhk (a jedi master even in the time of Lukes new order) for simplicity i've made this visual aid





The battle of saleucami was long and brutal, with the Republic and Jedi forces facing insurmountable odds due to how many things they had to work against.

The first was the two shield generators the separatists had, one protecting the rim guarded by ion cannons and the other protecting the main city where their cloning facilities was hidden beneath.

The second is a ground to space cannon keeping the republic fleet from getting close to the system.

Which no doubt assisted in crippling any kind of support they would get. Be it supplies, food, new troops etc. as Aayla commented only about half the ships got through in this instant and all were damaged.

Which brings in the next great hurdle. Supply. Master Oppo, being the jedi master he is, is diverting supplies, transport and manpower to assisting the refuges of the planet, adding additional strain to an already shaky system.

On the flip side the separatists, holed up in their double-shielded city has unlimited energy and access to the water main, as well as access to an infinite amount of highly trained warriors that they can throw like cannon fodder at the republic without end.

To complicate matters even more, Master Rancisis doesnt convey the battle plans until the last moment, no doubt because his number 2 (vos) is still a potential spy and could leak said plans to the enemy, which is exactly what the separatists want

TO RECAP everything Oppo and the republic has to deal with:

- an infinite army of jedi killing warriors further trained by jedi killing assassins all armed with cortosis


- separatists having unlimited energy and water allowing them to effectively wait out the republic indefinitely

- a finite amount of clone troopers who need, rest, food and working equipment

- two shield generators preventing space to ground bombardment or heavy artillery
- ion cannons to further ward off heavy artillery and protect said generators
- a ground to space laser preventing large scale invasion and solid supply line and air dominance

- a shaky supply line where assumed half of the transports are destroyed, the surviving ones damaged, further strained by assisting refugees

- a second in command whom could leak any potential strategies shared

- the threat of sora bulq, a fallen jedi with renowned skill capable of holding his own against windu before growing in power


But DESPITE all this, Master Oppo is confident in victory, even saying he has a plan. Adding to this the only factor the separatists say that is preventing them from winning outright is master Oppo’s battle meditation

It was because of this sole reason that they sent the azanti masters after Oppo along with sora bulq, who were to only strike when he was at his most vulnerable (as discussed in dueling skill)
