Great find, for the sake of consistency Nick later states in an interview that Mace is an 8, albeit bordering on 9. (Skip to 15:28)

Probably a top tier 8 until the Office when he finally let go of his restraint and gave it everything he had. Scan there seems consistent with the idea that Jedi and Sith have to cut loose (if they have any restraint) to become a tier 9 or achieve some level of emotional revelation that takes them to a new level of fighting ability (tier 9), albeit the way they cut that restraint varies. Anakin's is just to cut loose and destroy everything in his past, whereas Yoda and Mace cut loose but let their Jedi discipline or personal mastery channel it more effectively and efficiently.
