Jedi Resisting Dark Side Nexuses
February 16th 2020, 3:28 am
Stumbled upon this. Might be the most explicit and impressive example of a Jedi not only resisting but drawing power from a nexus. In this case Ben Skywalker goes into Oneness and draws on the Font of Power, one of the most powerful dark side nexuses ever.
So it seems like if you achieve oneness with the Force that incorporates the dark side as well.
It seems like different nexuses have different effects. Dromund Kaas seems like it will have a negative influence even on the likes of Revan and Luke, whereas Yoda and other Jedi can draw on Vjun. What is the rhyme and reason to these differences?
Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse wrote:"Ben opened himself to the Force completely, shielding himself from the Font of Power's darkness by drawing its energies through the power of all he loved in the galaxy, through his faith in the Jedi purpose and the promise of the future-through his confidence in Vestara and the sure knowledge that she would soon join him in the ranks of the Jedi Knights. The Force came pouring into Ben from all sides, irresistible and pure, a flood of light and purpose that no being in the galaxy could deny. He felt himself become the Force, a swirl of power and energy, and he focused all that he was on the approaching Keshiri, hitting her with a Force blast that would have knocked a frigate out of orbit."
So it seems like if you achieve oneness with the Force that incorporates the dark side as well.

Vjun might not have been conceived as a pure dark side nexus
Either that or the author that made the statements is unaware on the lore( also including the notion that the novel is written 14 years before so he might be trying to just rationalize to get the twitter geeks out of the way) and his statement is to be taken lightly
Because this is a case that is unique, no other planet, not Zigoola, not Korriban, not Ziost etc. amps Jedi
All these places have Jedi being horribly hindered. To the topic, some instances of Oneness have people employing the raw version, not channeling it to light or the dark sides so that might be a reason why in Oneness, some people aren't hindered by a dark side nexus unlike other cases

Was it said in the novel that Vjun is dark sided? Or just that the temptation to become drunk on its power was there?

I believe that the novel makes it evident that it is a dark side nexus exclusively, saying that it is "steeped in the dark side"ILS wrote:Was it said in the novel that Vjun is dark sided? Or just that the temptation to become drunk on its power was there?
Why else would he comment on Dooku being heightened, making an allusion to Mace Windu being his match on neutral ground? The point of the statement was that Dooku is now heightened and a serious threat to Yoda
But, doesn't that mean that Yoda himself has not been heightened? Else, why bother making a statement like that?

Well that's how we traditionally interpreted it. But there are other Jedi empowered by Vjun in the novel, and a quote about how Yoda is particularly terrible on Vjun.

Okay, in that case, that might have merit
The Yoda being terrible is just a play on his appearance to give creative spice to the battle. I doubt "Yoda is terrible to behold in the dark drunken Vjun area" means that Yoda is empowered physically
Plus Yoda might have been restraining to actually make use of the nexus since there is something about Yoda doing the best he could not to annihilate Dooku on Vjun

That may have also been Dooku's vision of what Yoda would've hypothetically looked like as a Dark Sider. And IIRC Yoda was conflicted while fighting Dooku, and we know that being conflicted will cause Jedi to underperform in combat.
- Why is the dark side so harmful to the user's body while the light side does almost no damage?
- Can a Force user draw upon the dark side for years and avoid the destructive side effects?

- If you had to choose a dark side master who would it be and why?
- Force-users Yoda's beaten other than Dooku and his dark side from TCW
