THE GALAXY ENGINE
The galaxy engine is an idea spawned from the writings of Sidious's dark side compendium. having delved into them with my own pages from the Dark series I feel there is more going on than people may realize, and what is happening may be the reason why the OT is considered the "dark times" and/or "the darkest of times" and why what the emperor had built and what he was doing is without replication.
SENSE AND FEED ON FEAR AND NEGATIVITY
to start, let's cover some basic dark side powers. The ability to sense fear, anger, hate and feed on it. To gain strength from such negativity and death.

ABLE TO INSTIL FEAR IN OTHERS
the sith have means of instilling such fears in others. be it other force sensitives or ordinary individuals, be it with rituals, force techniques, or just plain manipulations or trickery.
JEDI DEAD, NEW ORDER
At the time of the formation of the empire, the Jedi have all been destroyed, wiped out, and considered at best a myth and at worst abhorrent freaks of nature. his new system built a civilization on paranoia, mistrust, and fear, ostracizing aliens as was his intentions with the CIS. as was outlined in his writings on "weakness of inferiors" I shall post a few examples.

neighbor rats on neighbor, people live in fear that they will be made an example of if not loyal. The galaxy hating and fearing aliens for being the "evil" enemies that plunged the galaxy into chaos years ago, their former protectors the Jedi becoming freaks, frauds, and traitors, and slavery became more of a norm once more - such negativity.
THE EMPEROR DRAWS ON FEAR ON AN UNPRECEDENTED SCALE
What I feel this means is that Sidious and perhaps Vader and a few others, with the empire working and spreading fear and oppression, racism, and all forms of negativity in the galaxy, these special force users are able to siphon these emotions on an unprecedented galactic scale, with no light side counter force acting against it, since the Jedi are all but wiped away and with it, the light of the galaxy. Leaving the force forever tipped toward darkness.
UNIVERSAL TAPPING
We know people can tap into universal disturbances for power. I shall post the following quotes, specifically of Brakiss and Sidious' apprentice count Dooku. on how these two Darksiders, are able to both tap into a sort of universal energy, be it from catastrophe or otherwise, seeing as how the text notes how Sidious "shown him that it has been his all along" I feel its not any stretch that Sidious can do the same. Especially with what I shall follow up with.

continuing this universe point I wish to talk about a key part of the galaxy engine concept, that being its heart.

this is the heart of the engine, the emperor himself, all the energy trickles to him, energizes him, and makes him grow stronger, But the force will always require balance, as Palpatine notes to gain energy one must energy need to give as well, he uses some of this energy to hold his empire together, to keep this machine working, to strengthen his adepts, who lean on his power for their own. he is the heart and they are the gears that keep the "blood" flowing to him so that he can keep them working, creating the loop that is the galaxy engine.

FORCE IS GOING TO DIE
His empire squeezes its grip on the galaxy, spreading fear, oppression, negativity, and even death. all going to the heart, the emperor, which the entire galaxy fears. Using it to grow stronger and reach a level where he would be considered unstoppable, and with no strong light side force to balance his overwhelming darkness he will inadvertently rot away the force and with it all life in the universe. in a way, he is supplanting himself with the cosmic force by "reprogramming" reality instead of living -> cosmic it's going living -> sheev -x> cosmic.

OMNISCIENT EMPEROR
The emperor has spread his darkness all across the galaxy, figuratively and literally. He is the devil that whispers in your ear and the monster under the bed, the invisible creature you feel is lurking in the shadows and following behind you as you walk alone. The emperor has a repeated narrative of having a sort of omniscience to him. Knowing things before other people even think of doing it, peering into the minds of his subjects across the galaxy and so forth.
Having become basically a cosmic force that has tipped the balance for far into the dark its going to kill the force and basically is uprooting the cosmic force the Emperor’s mental reach is without peer. Where there is darkness the emperor is there, watching, knowing
EXTRA FACTORS
There is of course other such factors worth mentioning, such as the death star, which was to be the ultimate symbol of fear across the galaxy, a weapon so large and terrifying that nobody would even dare consider doing anything against them or the empire, as part of the proposal message from tarkin to palpatine, part of which will be used for the "TARKIN DOCTRINE" which is what ill call the non force sensitive equivalent of the darkside compendium. fear is the ultimate tool in dominating the galaxy, fear that the sith feel, feed on, grow strong off of.

- the death stars ability to instantly destroy a planet creates an almost unprecedented level of death, take alderaan for example, with but a flick of a switch they killed not just millions of humans, but likely trillions, sextillions of life in the form of animals, insects and plant life. all dying all at once, screaming in fear and panic and agony in the force. all for the sith to feed on. even when Destroyed there is still at least a million instant deaths with the people on the death star
-the size of the empire that Sidious is influencing and feeding on (not counting civilians) is a size that is without peer. each person no doubts have stresses, fears, concerns. especially with Palpatine and Vader purposely spreading fear in their officers. makes tens of trillions of soldiers into generators of fear for them to feed and grow strong off of, feeding into the loop. this of course doesn't account for the countless people they bully, kill, enslave, and go to battle within civil wars, if one were to factor that in the numbers probably become incalculable
of course, this is all part of the emperor's plan. he built his empire to do just this purpose, with him at the heart of it all and when he is gone it all falls apart
- Lastly, i wish to bring mention the lack of belief of the force during palpatines reign, if focus determines reality as Qui gon so claims, then a galaxy of trillions+ of beings all being told that the force isn't real, its a fairy tale superstition, used by parlor tricking wizards of old age. what exactly would the force do?

THE CHOSEN ONE
We are all familiar with the Chosen one Prophecy, How Anakin will bring balance to the force by destroying the sith. I bring this up because it is the fact that the Force spawned in a prophetic god spawn with the sole purpose (destiny) of destroying this great evil (and the source of it) it is anakins destiny to destroy palpatine and restore the force, rescue it if you will, from sidious’ evil works. From sidious himself. And thus freeing the galaxy of darkness.

Unlike any other era or great evil, the Force has never directly spawned in a being specifically in response to a threat/being. Sidious’ plan, power and galactic engine of darkness require the greatest and oldest prophecy ever conceived to put a stop to it. Nothing less
Once sidious is dead his Empire falls apart. This we know, his darkness is destroyed with him, a darkness that so completely and utterly covered the galaxy is removed.
This is where I feel that “balance” is restored. Not so much the equalling of light and darkness in the galaxy. But the absence of both leaves raw force energy left yet to be converted.
If I may make a visual demonstration:
This is the force during the time before the clone wars. The Jedi are 20,000 strong and the galaxy is bathed in their lightside energies for over 1000 years. So much so they made a bubble to keep the dark side out. the force as we know, constantly seeks balance so it birthed a dark side monster in the form of Palpatine.
This is the force during the Clone Wars. The bubble has been popped, the shroud of the dark side has fallen and as the war goes on and the Jedi grow fewer, the light decreases and the dark side increases, forever shifting back in forth.
It's here where we reach order 66 and the OT. where the lightside weight is permanently removed from the scale entirely with the annihilation of the jedi, the light of the galaxy is murdered and with it the light side of the force (much like the daughter)
Here the darkside’s weight becomes unchallenged. All the more heavier without any force to oppose it, none at all. And it's here that Sidious creates his engine to push this darkness, his own darkness even further to a point where the weight is becoming so much that the scale (the force) will just break. And everything will die
And it is only here, with the fulfillment of the prophecy do we get “balance” in the form I talked about. Not equal measure of light and dark, but the absence of both in the galaxy, since even an empty scale, by its nature is still a “balanced” one.
Anakin fulfilled the Prophecy by bringing balance, he was responsible for the removal of the too-heavy light side weight and then later the too-heavy dark side weight. Neutral, even balance for the cycle to begin anew.
CONCLUSION
Emperor Palpatine, Darth Sidious, the Archvillain of the Star Wars universe. Has fulfilled the Sith grand plan and cast a far-reaching darkness all across the galaxy that created an engine of evil that fueled his growing powers, to which a portion would be given to hold his empire together and empower his hands. This evil galaxy-spanning web without any force to equalize it has led to nearly the death of the force, and all life as we know it.
