Fan-Fiction Rough Script for "The Death of Luke Skywalker"
October 12th 2020, 11:03 pm
This is a rough script outline for a fan-fiction sequel to Fate of the Jedi and Crucible: The Death of Luke Skywalker. I don't have any plans to actually turn it into a fully-fledged fan-novel--my time would be far better spent actually finishing some versus blogs and studying Japanese--but I wanted to write my ideas down anyway.
A wounded Abeloth stumbles to the Nihil Retreat, the sanctuary of the Sorcerers of Rhand, cultists who worship the power of chaos and destruction above the Force itself. The Rhandites hail Abeloth as the living embodiment of their ideology and strike out across the galaxy in suicidal attacks, allowing her to feed on the deaths of trillions. A revitalized Abeloth resurrects Mara Jade from the Netherworld in a calculated gambit to corrupt and destroy the galaxy’s protector and her most hated enemy: Luke Skywalker.
Mara Jade awakens on Kavan, where she had been killed five years earlier by Jacen Solo. She rushes to the Jedi Temple to inform Luke and the Jedi Council of Jacen's treachery, only to face shock and outrage toward her return. The Jedi suspect the sinister hand of the Rhandites or Abeloth but find no proof through the Force. Luke hesitantly accepts Mara Jade back into his life but secretly holds grave suspicions. Five years pass with a galaxy at peace, though Luke’s fears grow ever-larger.
During a late-night spar between Mara Jade and an unsuspecting Jedi Knight, the Jedi horrifically reveals her true nature as Abeloth and takes possession of Mara Jade. Mara Jade kidnaps Ben Skywalker and mortally wounds Saba Sebatyne as she flees Coruscant while another Abeloth avatar confronts Leia, Han, and Allana Solo. Leia repels Abeloth long enough for Han and Allana to escape but is captured in turn. A shaken Luke leads a Jedi strike force of Jaina Solo, Kyp Durron, and Corran Horn to hunt down Abeloth.
Meanwhile, for almost a decade, Kyle Katarn and Jaden Korr have led an expedition in search of the Dagger of Mortis. Though the trail has gone cold, mysterious contacts reveal its location in the heart of the Rhandite Sanctuary. Expecting a trap but out of time and options, the Jedi rally another strike force to secure the Dagger despite great casualties, only to learn that the Dagger had lost its properties following the destruction of Mortis and that Abeloth had orchestrated the raid to further push Luke to despair.
Luke's strike force confronts the Abeloth-possessed Mara Jade on Rimik. Luke fights in a growing frenzy as the Jedi Masters are incapacitated one-by-one. Mara flashes grotesque Force visions of Luke’s captured family and taunts she has killed them. Unable to restrain himself any longer, Luke draws on the dark side in a tremendous display of power that unwittingly only further strengthens his foe. As Luke moves to strike down Mara, Abeloth’s spirit withdraws, leaving Luke to kill his confused and fearful wife in cold-blood.
Broken with grief and guilt, Luke contemplates suicide to explain himself to Mara Jade, but he is pulled from the brink from encouragement from his fellow Jedi Masters reflecting on their past mistakes, Han and Allana Solo revealing they are alive, and Jaden carrying the Dagger. Abeloth beckons Luke to come to Tatooine alone. On route, Luke meets the spirit of Anakin Skywalker, who explains his role and potential as the Chosen One, including the ability to wield the Dagger, is carried on through the Skywalker bloodline.
Luke travels to the Lars Homestead, where Abeloth has brought the Skywalker captives for execution. Luke prevents their deaths and orders them to flee as he faces down a surprised and enraged Abeloth. Luke fights Abeloth across Tatooine in an unprecedented battle, gradually shedding his mortal form and becoming a luminous Force entity. Luke ultimately rallies his powers and experiences to vanquish Abeloth with the Dagger, and in rapturous clarity foresees the destiny of his family and the inevitable triumph of balance as he passes into the Force and reunites with Mara Jade.

Guy deserves to die of old age tbh. Good write-up, though.

Totally agreed, but I think Legacy diminished that possibility.

Not really. Luke is in his 60's in FOTJ. Legacy is almost a full century after that.
