Reasons why Darth Sidious didn't pursue mastery of Midichlorian Manipulation

Is there an in universe explanation as to why he seemingly abandons all attempts at learning MM after Plagueis's death? He's seen what it could do for Plagueis in the form of reversing aging. Such a technique would have proved useful to him to prevent his body from decaying like it began to do in RotJ and would have eliminated the need for multiple clone bodies after his resurrection.

It's possible he did, actually, but it's not confirmed. Regardless, it didn't help him stave off the decay of his body.
