Aren't they trying to make him Vader's equal in canon? Considering they're trying to have Vader above Sidious that means he should at the very lest make it to the last two if not clear.

Jedi vs. Sith states that Luke's Force power and lightsaber skill were equal to Vader's as of RotJ.

Now, you could [rightly] argue that Vader was conflicted there, but imo, said conflict wasn't really prominent enough to bog down his overall abilities(or at least, no canon sources I am aware of imply such.) After all, he still brought Luke before Palpatine, he still defended Palpatine from Luke's strike, and he was still initially trying to turn Luke toward the dark side.

And given that in canon, Vader's power and lightsaber skill did nothing but increase in the years following RotS, the fact that Luke was his equal in RotJ indicates that he'd be superior to any version of Anakin, imo.
