Given that Ahsoka drives maul back on a nexus, I'm struggling to see how they were "even at best"

Because ROTS Maul was also > ROTS Ahsoka, and I haven't seen evidence or scaling quantifying just how much Ahsoka grew as a fighter (though she did grow).

Stop saying RotS Maul just say S7 Maul

Of course he could have, but I don't see how he would have grown noticeably more powerful in exile and going even more insane. If you've any evidence or theories, totally open to that changing, however.
