General Grievous vs Obi-Wan Kenobi (Read OP) Empty General Grievous vs Obi-Wan Kenobi (Read OP)

This is pre-RotS movie Grievous vs RotS Kenobi i.e. before George turned Grievous into a moustache twirly saturday morning cartoon villain. No TCW allowed, no movie Grievous, anything about Grievous predating 15th May of 2005 is allowed (RotS premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on that day), nothing after that is allowed.

Still Kenobi, ROTS Novel Grievous was prime Grievous and he had no way of answering Kenobi’s Soresu

Even if it's the smarter Grievous that takes advantage of his physicality more I'd still give it to Kenobi but only after the fight of his life.

Grievous. Prior to having his chassis crushed by Windu at the tail end of OCW Grievous was drastically more dangerous than we see him in RotS. OCW is clearly his prime, and Kenobi likely won't be able to cope with the sheer unpredictability of a full-effort OCW Grievous who can manipulate his chassis in multiple ways.

Pretty much what Cuck said. The RotS Novel Grievous is EU Grievous. Not only that but it was also written under the pretense this was the first time Kenobi fought Grievous, it follows the continuity of Labyrinth of Evil, unlike OCW, where Mace never crushed his chest hence no reference to his signature cough, and the battle took place on a flat open area which nullifies the more recent argument Kenobi needed an environmental advantage.

Kenobi did not beat Grievous in a legitimately even ecounter. He had pre-knowledge into Grievous and how he functioned from Mace, he had a form that was perfectly suited to countering Grevious's. Add this to the fact that GG was legitimately fucked by having Durasteel driven through his innards and his chassis crushed by Mace, GG was operating on a major injury. Yet he still broke Obi-Wan's guard and overloaded his defenses

We know that it requires specialty machinery and parts to repair GG and given the timeline of ROTS, there is zero opportunity for such repairs to have happened. Without those injuries, Kenobi probably wouldve ended up little different than Shaak Ti, albeit much more difficult of a fight

This is actually sorta true in retrospect. Especially since Grievous originally didn't have the cough and given that it's pretty bad in ROTS it's pretty clear he was massively hindered.

I mean, he can barely walk without wheezing and coughing.

The OCW and LoE accounts differ irreconcilably in so many ways. In OCW Mace is shot down from a hotwired Droids starfighter and confronts Grievous as he's departing. In LoE Kit and Mace arrive to the bunker by way of gunship long after Grievous had left the scene.

The RotS Novel follows the narrative established by Labyrinth of Evil where Mace never crushed his chest. He doesn't even have his signature cough which is the entire point of the scene, to explain why he has one in the movie.

Grievous didn't pierce his guard, he overloaded his capacity to rely on pure defense overcommitting himself in the process, then Kenobi stopped turtling and launched his counterattack and handily dismantled the cyborg.

Im referring to the Jr novel, actually. Not the ROTS one that follows LoE
