Can we just take a second to appreciate that the only Jedi who ever scared Plagueis with what he could do was Qui-Gon Jinn?

Not Yoda. Not Mace. Not any other Council member. Qui-Gon.
With the cowl of his hood raised, he moved to one of the stationary macrobinocular posts and pressed his eyes to the cushioned eye grips. Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the boy had arrived at the platform in a Jedi ship; Amidala, her handmaidens and guards, and a loose-limbed Gungan in an open-topped hemispherical air taxi. Just then the latter group was ascending the starship’s boarding ramp, but Qui-Gon and the round-faced desert urchin had stopped short of the ship to speak about something.
What? Plagueis asked himself. What topic has summoned such an earnest look to Qui-Gon’s face, and such confused urgency in the boy?
Lifting his face from the macrobinoculars, he stretched out with the Force and fell victim to an assault of perplexing images: ferocious battles in deep space; the clashing of lightsabers; partitions of radiant light; a black-helmeted cyborg rising from a table … By the time his gaze had returned to the platform, Qui-Gon and the boy had disappeared.
Trying desperately to make some sense of the images granted him by the Force, he stood motionless, watching the starship lift from the platform and climb into the night.
He fought to repress the truth.
The boy would change the course of history.
Unless

Jinn was definitely a lot more suited to training Anakin than Kenobi was.

Qui-Gon appears in 1 mediocre film from 1999, has a voice cameo in a mediocre film in 2002 and another voice cameo in a very divisive film in 2019. So the answer's no.

Plagueis considered Qui-Gon a legitimate thorn in his side for a variety of reasons, not sure why you're denying this by singling out the movie as the only material worth considering for Qui-Gon.

Correction: Has another voice cameo in a great film in 2005 then multiple cameos in TCW. Plagueis also only has one appearance in his namesake novel. Not that this is even relevant to what I was posting about so what the hell was the point of this post?Latham2000 wrote:Qui-Gon appears in 1 mediocre film from 1999, has a voice cameo in a mediocre film in 2002 and another voice cameo in a very divisive film in 2019. Qui-Gon was such a cool character. It's a shame he was killed off so fast.

Not really, as Hego's fear stems from Anakin reaching his potential. He merely believed Qui-Gon could bring that out due to the obvious bond the two shared, so sought to remove him from the equation.

Right, but this thread is about the only Jedi who could scare Plagueis with what they could do, and in this case, with Jinn, it was making sure Anakin didn't go to the Sith (as you literally just elaborated on). So, no, the OP is right, the only Jedi who scared Plagueis with what he could do was Qui-Gon making your "not really" kinda pointless.

As it is framed, the original post compares Qui-Gon to Mace, Yoda and the Council. In other words, what Qui-Gon can personally do to Hego in a direct confrontation.

No...? The original post compares Jinn to them in the sense that they didn't scare Plagueis as much with what they could do as Jinn did. That in no way implies a direct combative confrontation solely, but what they could do to Plagueis on the whole.
