Is Darth Maul more formidable with a single bladed lightsaber or double bladed lightsaber?

Are there any sources that answer this question?

His worst showing is when he got three shotted by old Ben, and he had that double bladed lightsaber in that instance.

Double. He was more effective in TCW because he was more powerful.

I posted this in the Legends section because Legends has more material for Maul IIRC, and there's no Canon + Legends section.

I think the first Fact File issue states he's more effective with two blades than one.

I doubt it amounts to much though, since Maul is apparently in no hurry to get a double-bladed weapon back after he's healed and restored. Clearly he thinks one blade will do just fine.

Maul's plans put him on a path that lead to direct confrontations with the people who can be counted on one hand. If Maul felt that a single-bladed weapon hindered his goals of putting Darth Sidious and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the ground, he would've sought out a quarterstaff or remade his original weapon, but he doesn't. If he believed his prowess had really taken such a hit because of the single blade, he would have again switched after being humiliated by the Hero of Umbara in the Sith Academy, and would love any extra edge he could get over Obi-Wan in their fights.

So it makes no sense for there to be a dramatic difference between Maul with either weapon.

Maul probably didn't have the time and resources to repair the remaining halve of his single bladed, or to construct an entirely new double bladed lightsaber because he would need to actively travel to another planet to get a new kyber crystal, and Savage were either constantly on the run from the Jedi from TCW S4 to Revival, or he and Savage were unconscious in their ship from Revival to Eminence, or he was busy with Mandalorian stuff from Eminence to The Lawless, or he was busy with all the events that happen in SoD. But TCW Season 7 clearly shows us that Maul has a fully functioning double bladed lightsaber, which might have something to do with the fact that he became less of a threat to Palpatine's grand plan.

What you're claiming is Maul doesn't have the time or resources, none of the hundreds of Sith acolytes at his disposal on Umbara, not the army of Death Watch soldiers on Mandalore, nor a single member of any of the various crime syndicates under his heel, and not even his apprentice could take a day off to go fetch a crystal or cover for him while he does - lightsaber crystals that can be found even on the black market if he was truly limited with his travel options. I think Maul not being able to spare a single day in all his time post-resurrection is an unreasonable position, as is him lacking sufficient resources.

Darth Maul has multiple ways to acquire a crystal, multiple people or groups to gather it, as well as a unique talent for mechanics and experience in the crafting of lightsabers. To reiterate; Maul is better with a double-bladed weapon, Beware the Sith and Darth Maul: Sith Apprentice make that much clear, but it doesn't make or break his combat skill, which is why he never bothers constructing a new one - barring Disney works so they can stir up hype and get fans speculating on the significance of the change.

Ray Parker looked more fluid and less constricted after Obi-Wan cut it in half. There are advantages for the double-bladed lightsaber but as Kas'im says it's, in practice, a more limited weapon once you get passed the initial awkwardness, born from unfamiliarity.

[hideedit] I should also mention that Maul has over a hundred Sith acolytes on Umbara, some equipped with double-bladed lightsabers identical to his original weapon. If Maul truly wanted something like his old lightsaber, he could have taken one of these;
