Kanan in a decent fight. I'm working on a Kanan respect thread right now so I'll get back to this with reasons.

Just reread the Purge comic and Bultar Swan was thoroughly unimpressive/virtually irrelevant, so I guess the only thing she has to her name is statements about her supposed martial acuity. Probably should’ve refreshed myself with Purge before making this thread, but oh well lol.

Swan doesn’t have anything beyond surviving the petranaki Arena ( which is kinda impressive but not incredible) and losing to a vastly pre-prime Vader. She loses here.

She didn’t lose to Vader. She was betrayed and killed by a fellow Jedi. Actually she landed a hit on the Sith Lord. Aniway, it’s close but Kansan should still win

I know, but what I meant was that she was Vader’s clear inferior had it not been for the support of the other jedi.Gianfi wrote:She didn’t lose to Vader. She was betrayed and killed by a fellow Jedi. Actually she landed a hit on the Sith Lord. Aniway, it’s close but Kansan should still win

Bultar Swan seemed to be the superior Jedi alongside Tsui Choi, but that’s not saying much. How a martial arts specialist allowed for someone to take and stab her with her own weapon, even accounting for being surprised, is beyond me.

She barely landed a hit on Vader, and Vader was distracted and had just had his hand cut off when she did it:
She's done absolutely nothing impressive, whereas Kanan has far more impressive showings. Honestly, it shouldn't even be that much of a fight. Decent, sure, but nothing else.
On another note, it's actually a really impressive combat showing for a Vader barely into his armour. He one-shots several Jedi with ease, ragdolls others, then freezes Tsui Choi in place to the point where even though the master became aware of this he only freed himself by throwing his lightsaber at Vader. As clumsy as he might be in his suit, he's still very lethal even here.

The Kessel confrontation took place very shortly after Mustafar as well, which adds to its impressiveness. Still, though, Vader likely would have died if Sidious hadn't sent reinforcements.
As far as Swan goes, I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt: She was trained by two esteemed Jedi Council members, learned from Anoon Bondara, had an "expertise" in combat, a "strong" lightsaber defense, and was thought of as a potential future member of the Jedi Council by Plo Koon. I don't know where any of this places her, but I guess it's more revealing than her "duel" with Vader.

Honestly, Vader using two hands to block a strike from a massively pre-prime Kanan, while unquantifiable, is already better than anything Bultar has done, lol.
