Reasons? Muh Sidious parity.

Plagueis with low difficulty.

Plagueis wins in a good fight all rounds except the bonus one, which is rather debatable.

I doubt Plagueis can win the bonus round , let alone win easily. The amp made him a challenge to Yoda.

Depends on how much growth you think is between RotS Sids and TPM Sids (before he killed Hego).

Barring MM shenanigans I’d side Dooku.

Does Plagueis actually have feats with a saber comparable to giving Yoda a decent fight and being considered an equal of TCW Mace?

I don't think Dooku is anywhere near Sidious, and while the novel->RotS jump for Sidious is probably pretty large, I would be surprised if it were comparable to the gap between him and Dooku given that Dooku basically sees Sidious as a god. I mean, it always could be, but in the absence of strong evidence for such a gap I don't see a reason to believe it. Furthermore, Plagueis's unbalancing of the Force, publisher's blurb attribution as the most powerful sith to his time in history, and accomplishments with midichlorian manipulation seem to be of a larger scale than Dooku's feats.

Plus Plagueis is conventionally more powerful than Dooku to boot, and has a greater mastery of the dark side. Throw in MM and at least comparable dueling skills, if not superior, then you have a clean win on all accounts.

Plagueis beats standard Dooku on the back of his superior force power, but loses a duel. An emotionally stable Vjun!Dooku caves his head in though.

I don't think Dooku's skill can make up for the lack of augmentation and comparable dueling skills Plagueis has.

Dooku is decisively superior to peak Maul but I doubt that is going to make up for the difference between him and TPM Maul who is blitz tier for Plagueis

Still I think Plagueis stomping seems a bit too harsh

I'm not so sure. Plagueis is an exceptionally skilled duelist himself and has what I would take to be a very large augmentation advantage. I think at that level, skill hits diminishing returns when both parties are high-level masters anyway and strength/mastery of the Force dominates even more.

I don't think Dooku is close to Sidious as a duelist (with the Force factored in). Dooku's performances against pairs of Ventress/Maul/Oppress/etc. in TCW where he often struggles cannot compare to Sidious toying with and absolutely destroying the Maul brothers. I'm not sure just how big of a gap we're supposed to place between Plagueis and RotS Sidious, but I don't think it's enough that the latter could toy with the former.

Does he? That Dooku seems to be a challenge for Yoda (who would've been hindered by Vjun too), but frankly Yoda seems to underperform against Dooku compared to their relative rankings to Sidious and other TCW characters (e.g. Yoda matches Sidious while Dooku sees Sidious as a god, gets choked by him through his hologram, struggles against pairs that Sidious curbstomps using a fraction of his power, etc.). I'm guessing this has to do with Yoda's soft spot for Dooku (explicitly noted in sources). You could also claim that Dooku is a good matchup against Yoda, but that would also nullify the scaling. And I don't think Yoda could easily defeat Plagueis.

dooku probably wins sabers if he could keep up with plagueis and his speed in a duel , which he should be capable of since he fought yoda on multiple occasions
(problem is yoda probably never went completely out against dooku , since the grandmaster going all out was able to be faster duelist than sidious
and managed to disarm him after few strikes) .
but since yoda is the best duelist there is i give this round to dooku .

he loses all other rounds against plagueis though .
