What if Palpatine sensed Darth Maul's survival?

Picture this: Instead of assuming that Maul died on Naboo, what if Palpatine's foresight informed him of Maul's survival and the exact location of Maul's whereabouts at all times. Would he have made the time and effort to rescue the bisected Maul? If so, would he have been able to fix Maul like Mother Talzin did?

Yes, he would have. Maul was useful to Sidious beyond the Clone Wars.



He'd have kept Maul around as his apprentice until Anakin was ready to be turned. He would have still tried to corrupt Dooku, he just wouldn't have made him a Sith.

The interesting difference is that Maul would still be hell bent on seeking revenge against Obi-Wan Kenobi. Vader had that same obsession and IIRC it annoyed Sidious at times. I wonder how that would go if Maul came back in 32 BBY instead of 20 BBY.

Sidious would have held him back at first, then allowed Maul to go after Obi-Wan to make Anakin angrier and easier to turn.

How long would Sidious hold back Maul? days, months, years? How many?

Probably until TCW, when Anakin's trust in the Council was reaching rock bottom.
