I'm not sure what my views on Malgus are at this point. I'm unfamiliar with Onslaught but if he legitimately competed with the Outlander he wins. If not, Malak wrecks on account of his superiority to Kun.

OP says base Malak but even SF Malak's upper bound is KotOR Revan. The power creep in KotFE and KotET, that happens after SoR, produces a line of scaling that involves even a stronger Revan than the one that defeated SF Malak. If you compare, for example, Marr and Satele to the Outlander and how the former two performed against Revan - and the fact they should be utter fodder to present Outlander based on scaling, Malgus competing with the Onslaught Outlander even if only presenting some vague threat should compare favorably to SoR Revan, who should be significantly stronger than SF Malak, not to say base Malak - that is specified in the OP. In that sense, I think Malgus is closer to SoR Revan than Malak is.

Seeing as both faced the Outlander we can say he does  scale favourably to that version of Revan.

At least, a lot closer than a Malak who might not even have surpassed Darth Revan.

Except he gets stomped by the Outlander, and Revan stomps the Outlander. Whereas KOTOR Revan > SF Malak >>> Malak > Darth Revan

@Corvinus Malgus' prime is Onslaught, not FE.

@IG (Exists) Malgus faced and performed decently well against the Outlander when they had the help of Arn and Tau. He then broke their passive Force barrier. Revan fought an infinitely inferior version of the Outlander and stomped him. Hardly equivalent. 

Malgus takes this. He's more impressive than Malak.
