Round 1 - Toss Up (leaning towards Ezio though do to gear advantage)

Round 2 - Are you saying he has no armor period? Or simply that he is wearing his default Assassin robes? If the former - Altair. If the latter - See Round 1.

Round 3 Onward - Ezio

Altair is a better fighter, Ezio has better gear. Ezio will take it cos of gear, but give them both just a sword, hidden blade and their standard robes, and Altair beats him most if not all of the time.

not to be a dickwad, but based on what is he a better fighter?

Disarming about 20 assassins (maybe more, been a while since I played Revelations) who were trained from birth while not using a weapon, carving a path through groups of Crusader knights without getting tagged once, fighting through an invading army that was besieging Masyaf to reach the Castle, fighting through a battlefield with forces from both sides engaging him and trying to kill him to reach the heart of one force's camp (where King Richard was) etc. Unlike the other protagonists (including Ezio), he also has a desynchronisation bar instead of a health bar, meaning that you aren't playing exactly as the events went if you were tagged even once. Ezio's no slouch, but Altair's on another level.

i have heard that ezio's trailer is canon (him fighting all those guys without much effort). how much do u think this changes the picture when there is the possibility that he may not be as good as before (maybe stamina, speed, or strength for example)?

Just rewatched the trailer. The biggest problem Altair would have is Ezio's strength (like him headbutting a helmeted guard and staggering him, or effortlessly snapping another's neck). His speed will be no problem for Altair, and I'd argue Altair's stamina is quite a bit better:

Ezio's showing is amazing and he'd definitely give Altair a lot of trouble at least as of the clip above (Altair was 63, Ezio was 50). That said, Altair's replicated it. Altair at 63 had to fight his way out of Masyaf Castle against highly trained Assassins all swarming him, and didn't have any help until his son Darim arrived when he reached the village. He did all of that while not being tagged once and while only using his hidden blade, sword and (later) throwing knives. I think this is the only time the fight would be very close.

A side note, Altair has quite a notable strength feat. Choking Moloch, who is an extremely strong individual with his own weapon.

I've only played up till mid AC Revelations, but IMAO I'd side with Altair up until EoAC Brotherhood Ezio.
