The Last Dragonborn runs the Wizard Gauntlet
July 6th 2020, 9:53 am
This is the player character from the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but with a twist - this Dragonborn is a pure Mage. They know every shout & have mastered every spell. They are wearing the Arch-Mage Robes & the mask Morokei. And they are wielding the Staff of Magnus.
NOTE: No one is allowed weapons outside of magical artifacts
How far do they go?
Round 1: Novel Dumbledore & Voldemort
Round 2: Lore Gandalf the White
Round 3: Carter Kane (The Kane Chronicles)
Round 4: MCU Strange (Time Stone allowed)
Round 5: The Nerevarine (The Elder Scrolls III)
Round 6: DE Sidious

Why is Sidious above the Nerevarine?
And the Dragonborn probably soloes every verse here besides his own and excluding high-end deities like Iluvatar.

What makes LDB or other TES protags so strong that they can solo verses? Is LDB even bulletproof?

Because Sidious has quantifiable cray-cray feats while as the Nerevarine (like every TES Protag) has wonky meta-physical scaling & theoretical cray-cray feats.Azronger wrote:Why is Sidious above the Nerevarine?

1. No, the LDB is not even arrowproof (well, going by game mechanics)
2. TES protags go (mostly) off of scaling
EXAMPLE: The LDB defeated the dragon demi-god Alduin. Alduin's job is to "eat" the world so that a new cycle (or Kalpa) can begin. The thing is, "world" in TES is synonymous with "universe" because EVERYTHING in TES runs off of weird meta-physical/spiritual logic. This is what leads people to state that the Protags are universal.
Problem, though, is the fact that, due to everything being a giant... Metaphor maybe? It is hard to know when the game is being literal or not. Is Alduin literally strong enough to eat a universe? Or does he simply have access to the "reset" button due to it being his job?

LDB solos everyone here at once

Don't see why Gandalf the White or Strange lose to LDB.
Is there even a proof for LDB being able to react ROTS Sidious' speed?

If we bring game mechanics into this, then Dovahkiin can tank a fuckton of arrows - not sure how you can claim he is not even arrowproof in that sense when the opposite is clearly the case. Also, game mechanics open the door for console commands, so Dovahkiin can realty-warp with almost no limits I guess.
Regardless, he has the concrete lore feat of enduring the "unbridled" Voice of the Greybeards and emerging unscatched, which happened in-game and is commented on by the characters. Even three syllables from the Greybeards on High Hrothgar could be heard and caused groundquakes that could be felt all the way in Whiterun (again, a concrete, provable feat that happens on-screen and is commented on by the characters), and Dovahkiin tanked it for a lot longer than that. That quite clearly makes him bulletproof very early into his career without having to go into any of the more esoteric scaling (which is still valid).

Round 1 gets stomped
Round 2 I can see arguments both sides
Round 3 would be a good fight, but been a while since I read.
Round 4 Strange could just reset time untill he wins if he cheezes
Never played Morrowind
Round 6 goes to Sidious

I was being a little tongue in cheek with the arrow comment due to the sheer amount of times I've walked around looking like a human pin cushionAzronger wrote:If we bring game mechanics into this, then Dovahkiin can tank a fuckton of arrows - not sure how you can claim he is not even arrowproof in that sense when the opposite is clearly the case. As for tanking the Greybeards Thu'um, I have always had trepidations on using that as a physical durability feat. Arngeir states that the LDB must be Dragonborn because he survives their full powered Thu'um. Now, we know of other Dragonborns in TES. It took a lot less than country shaking force to fell them. So, my inquiry has always been: did they really tank it like Superman tanks nukes? Oooor, due to being a Dragon in a Man/Mer body, do Dragonborns simply have a built in resistance to Dragon Magic? Hence why Arngeir was so sure of the PC's status.

@The Slick Obi No, when the Dragonborn first meets the Greybeards, Arngeir states that the other members' Voices are too powerful for him to hear and that even a whisper could kill him. The fact that he tanks them later is indicative of growth and a genuine durability feat. Your theory also doesn't make sense because then every dragon would be immune to shouts, which clearly isn't the case. Not to mention that all shouts are is basically a form of reality-warping - Arngeir explains that "There is no difference in the dragon tongue between debating and fighting", and that "power equals truth." In essence, if you can articulate something with the Voice, then it is literally true. By suggesting that the Dragonborn has a built-in resistance to shouts, you're effectively implying that the Dragonborn is immune to practically everything.

Dragonborn's durability feats aren't impressive at all honestly.
