The only way this has affected my life is less work, not having to deal with as many humans and the occasional queue to get into the shops.

99.9% survival rate? I think not.@DarthSkywalker0 wrote:Ziggy can you cite your sources for the 99.9% survival rate? I’ve not seen that number purported anywhere.
Consider following statistics: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
If you consider CLOSED CASES only (statistical extreme), mortality rate is very high. However, mortality rate vary across countries subject to different factors including measures adopted against COVID-19 outbreak.
Following is an interesting revelation: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.01.20049478v1
P.S. One of my relatives succumbed to SARS-CoV-2 strain in USA (coronavirus strain responsible for COVID-19 outbreak). Therefore, all should take precautions.

@Ziggy wrote:You have to understand the unbelievable power of media to create narratives and thereby drive public opinion. A human being perceives the world through his senses - most notably his sense of sight and hearing. This is how our brain is adapted to receive and process information. That which is in front of a man's eyes is seen, that which enters his ears is heard. Both are apprehended by the brain. Both become part of the man's mental picture of reality. How could they not? His eyes see and his ears hear. He knows nothing of reality except that which his senses confirm to him.
So media, particularly modern audio-visual media, is essentially able to create false pictures of reality in peoples' minds by presenting them carefully curated images and sounds. For example, if you simply show someone a video of a sick person on a ventilator, your brain processes it plainly: this is a sick person on a ventilator. But if you combine that video with breathless, dramatic reporting about a killer virus and studies showing millions of imminent deaths and talking heads bloviating about the collapse of the medical system, suddenly your mental picture of reality changes. The sick person on a ventilator is not just one person. It's a terrifying harbinger of impending doom.
The media is particularly adept at pushing agendas by capitalizing on fear and using that fear to create hysteria. Humans are prone to hysteria because we are social creatures and are highly sensitive to the mood and temperaments of those around us. Fear is contagious. We can feel it when others are afraid, and we become afraid or at least concerned ourselves. And there is no greater fear than the fear of death. In the wake of 9/11 and the run-up the Iraq War the media was pushing all kinds of fear-porn about how large-scale terrorist attacks were the new normal in America, and that it was just a matter of time until we were hit with weapons of mass destruction by terrorists. People were scared, and that played a huge part in enabling the War on Terror and the disastrous wars in the Middle East which have been dragging on for almost 20 years now.
This Coronavirus hysteria is being used in much the same way. The government and media are telling people they need to be afraid for their lives and the lives of others, and that if they don't surrender their liberties the virus is going to kill millions of people. It's pure fear-mongering, and it is intentional. Fear eliminates rational thinking. They don't want people thinking. They want them obeying out of fear. The same country that lionized one of its Presidents for saying, "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself," is now encouraging its citizens to cower inside their homes and willingly accept the destruction of the economy in fear of a virus with a survival rate of over 99%, and even based of recent information (predicted case totals as oppose to confirmed cases) 99.9%.
We are not the same people we once were. I speak as someone born in the US, both literally and spiritually. Our industries and technologies have become stronger but not at no expense. We are spiritually weak and materially wealthy. We have grown soft. We fear death more than we love liberty. We have become disconnected from actual reality in favor of a pseudo-reality presented to us through various media channels. Essentially, we have lost all of our grounding. We have no stable frame of reference by which to judge truth. And so what we regard is true is whatever we see on television or whatever our chosen "influencers" push us on social media. Like a tumbleweed, we blow wherever the wind takes us at the time. Like a tumbleweed, rootless, dessicated and destined for the fire.
Glad to see voices of reason in a world where independent thought is being suppressed and punished.
There are genetic aspects, and environmental vulnerabilities, that this virus targets which is not being discussed by the media.
Most of the victims that make it to the ICU (~2/3) are male. Of those, ~2/3 suffer from low levels of testosterone:
Those with type A blood are also thought to be at a higher risk of serious symptoms:
This virus more severely affects those living in filthy, polluted urban environments, like cities, where years of exposure damages the immune system and lungs:
In short, this disease most severely affects those with compromised immune systems, those who have been making unhealthy lifestyle choices, and those with underlying medical conditions. The extent to which the media has been exploiting this pandemic is frightening, and in my mind, is paving the way to increased corporate control of the masses.
