No, the game's limitations don't take precedent over official sources stating what happened. Both Republic and Imperial strike teams boarded his station to take him down. The general theme from Ilum onwards is that the coalition keeps working together to take down threats. This is consistent until the onset of KOTFE.

How is the Hero of Tython, the Barsen'thor, Darth Nox or the Empire's Wrath sub-Maul?

maul is impressive, his bladework is unnatural but so is malgus', with more strength and conviction and assertiveness, his powers outstripping mauls with the ability to be incorporated in the fight more effortlessly.. with sith lightning and tk, lightning being maul's kryptonite. i hate to say it, but with maul's susceptibility and abscence of the skill of lightning, he would go down relatively quickly when his evasiveness and speed fail him.

Maul literally shreds him.

Give Malgus Aryn, Ven and Gnost.

Yeah, there's nothing Maul has done that prime Malgus hasn't gone well beyond or can't compensate for. He's got comparable Force feats as of the novel he stars in, and he's massively more powerful than that as of the False Emperor arc, where he's gaining greater understanding and mastery of the dark side every day to the point that Sidious praises his power and teachings as the means by which to achieve true power through the dark side. This is in comparison to innumerable quotes stating that the likes of Maul couldn't begin to comprehend how Sidious uses the Force.

By what means are you dismissing them out of hand. Malgus' teachings are literally the basis of Sheev's Book of Anger and the way by which his power increases dramatically through learning to master the powers of rage and will. Better yet, Daniel Wallace confirms this is exactly what was intended.

I mean, Plagueis also insinuates that Qui-Gon can solo destroy the trade federation flagship and thinks Qui-Gon would kill Maul in a lightsaber duel; but that only goes so far. Yeah, the Malgus stuff is impressive, but that’s it. It’s a tentative thing, shouldn’t be used as a primary argument.

It isn't my primary argument. It's meant to emphasize how massively Malgus' power grows in those twelve years.

We clearly have different ideas of how to quantify power growth.

Emphasize =/= quantify, if I wanted to quantify it I would point out that he went from being as powerful as Ven Zallow to being capable of giving 4 - 8 vastly more dangerous opponents a very strong fight.
