I've read the Silmarilion a few times, and I just finished listening to a podcast series that went through the entire book, and another podcast that covered aspects of Morgoth's Ring and Unfinished Tales.

I recently had a lengthy debate in a Youtube comment section arguing that the somewhat obscure quote Tolkien wrote about Sauron being "greater" effectively in the second age than Morgoth at the end of the first doesn't actually mean Sauron was more powerful than Morgoth.

I don't know if you're familiar with the quote in question or what your feelings on Sauron and Morgoth are.

There was a commentor arguing Sauron's plan was to take over Middle Earth and then attack the Valar which is pure nonsense for various reasons. I had some exchanges with him. I enjoyed the conversation.

I think it takes place under the Silverwolf post.
