Lol at Maul soloing. Team 1 stomps. Vader is the MVP here in the Force and he and Luke are equal in skill on a level beyond the brothers. If need be, Luke takes Maul and Vader takes Savage.

I'd presume it's because Maul is the strongest here, and he thinks that Savage can at least keep up with either long enough for Maul to off the other one.

Because TPM Maul already soundly beat ANH Vader, and his growth following that is greater or at the very least comparable to Vader's.

Because TPM Maul already soundly beat ANH Vader,
In a non-canon fight that was also described as possibly being a vision, illusion or trick. There's also a non-canon fight between Vader and Yoda & spectres on a telepathic plane on Dagobah in Star Wars: Infinities, where Vader was able to tank multiple strikes and ultimately defeat Yoda by breaking free from Yoda's telepathic hold and slicing off his arm before he could react. Tales is no more part of continuity than Infinities. 


Even if you want to use it, Vader decided to focus on fighting Maul in sabers (in which he was holding his own for most of the fight and even cutting Maul's lightsaber in half) instead of dominating him with the Force like he can obviously do based on feats. Maul also doesn't have the advantage of his double-bladed lightsaber in this case, so that's one advantage immediately gone.

Unlikely. Vader was shortly after described as being "far more formidable" than his pre-ANH self, and then grew again on top of that. Maul's power and skill was never suggested to have increased by nearly the same extent.
