Atris actually seemed half-competent in her fights in KOTOR 2.

Except Malgus had done basically nothing impressive by that point. 

She only pulled off that push due to the amp from absorbing the Saber 

She didn’t drop a mountain on him. She just pulverised a small portion of a rock wall that’s all. The cinematic proves this. Jace is exaggerating.

Grey pretty much explained it for me. I just find Malgus (and by extension Satele) unimpressive at that point, not to mention the enormous amount of combat-applicable knowledge Atris possessed after studying the holocrons on Malchor: 

"All this collected knowledge, all these teachings of combat and the Force - they are mine to command."
